Maureen was known for her warmth, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Her hospitality was legendary among family and friends — always thoughtful, always genuine. In 2023, cancer took Maureen to her final resting place, but her spirit lives on in this retreat created in her honour. Every detail of your stay — from the comfort of the rooms to the tranquillity of the gardens — reflects her gift for making others feel at home. At Maureen’s Retreat, you are not just a guest; you are part of the story of love, memory, and welcome.

David – Your BnB Host

David welcomes you to Maureen’s Retreat, a place created with care, thoughtfulness, and a deep sense of hospitality. A lifelong educator with experience in primary, secondary, and vocational teaching, David has always enjoyed helping people learn, grow, and feel at home in their surroundings. He personally owner-built the house and, together with his late wife Maureen, lovingly designed and nurtured the garden that now provides a tranquil setting for guests.

Having travelled widely throughout Australia and enjoyed many memorable BnB stays, David has brought together the very best of those experiences to shape Maureen’s Retreat. From practical comforts and thoughtful touches to warm hospitality and local knowledge, every detail has been considered so that couples, families, and small groups can relax and connect.

Beyond the Retreat, David is passionate about community, creativity, and sustainability — from supporting local cafés and attractions to developing horticultural projects that foster wellbeing and connection. His vision is that every guest not only finds rest here, but also carries away a sense of welcome and care that reflects the spirit of Maureen herself.
